QuestionnaireIIEF-5
SELF-QUESTIONNAIRE
Five questions covering the last six months, scored from 0 or 1 to 5. For some items, a score of 0 indicates an absence of stimulation or attempted intercourse: it should not be confused with a difficulty actually experienced.
Are you patient?
You can complete this questionnaire yourself. Please report any situations that did not occur: they are important for the interpretation and should not automatically be considered an illness.
Terms of contract
Ensure a confidential administration and a context-sensitive interview. The score should serve as a starting point for discussion, not to imply that all sexual situations are covered by the questionnaire.
Score interpretationIIEF-5
The total score of the five answers ranges from 1 to 25 according to the AFU scale: 1 to 4 is uninterpretable, 5 to 10 severe dysfunction, 11 to 15 moderate, 16 to 20 mild, and 21 to 25 normal erectile function.
Total score
First reading
1 to 4
Score not interpretable according to the AFU grid (1 to 4), most often due to sexual situations that did not occur.
5 to 10
Severe erectile dysfunction according to the AFU grid (5 to 10).
11 to 15
Moderate erectile dysfunction according to the AFU scale (11 to 15).
16 to 20
Mild erectile dysfunction according to the AFU scale (16 to 20).
21 to 25
Erectile function in the so-called normal range of the AFU grid (21 to 25).
The original publication used 22 to 25 for the category without dysfunction, with a detection threshold of 21. The two scales must not be mixed.
The questionnaire assumes sexual situations relevant to the patient and retrospective recall. It does not distinguish the causes of difficulties and does not determine treatment on its own. An absence of sexual activity is not enough to diagnose severe dysfunction: it must be discussed before any conclusion.
